More than 700 members and vendors attended Nexstar Network’s annual Super Meeting, held from Sept. 20–23, 2022, at the JW Marriott Austin in downtown Austin, Texas, in celebration of Nexstar’s 30th anniversary. Members from as far away as Australia checked in for the annual four-day event, which included an added extra day for more networking events with members’ business coaches and industry peers. Super Meeting in Austin gave participants an opportunity to reconnect in-person, learn, work together on business challenges, and gain new ideas.
“There is no organization that will set you up or prepare your team better in our industry,” said attending member Justin Pollack, president of Perfect Home Services, about Nexstar Network.
“It’s a privilege and honor to host this event for our members and partners," Nexstar President and CEO Julian Scadden said. "Success through education and sharing will always be at the forefront of our member-owned organization. This event offered industry-specific learning opportunities, as well general business best practices, strategies, and tactics that our membership can apply immediately. As our founder, Frank Blau Jr., stated decades ago, “We shall turn the world’s best tradespeople into the world’s best business people.”
The theme of the event was Strong Teams Grow Companies, with emphasis placed on building teams that can work together confidently to move a business plan forward. Nexstar invited several keynote speakers to elaborate on this theme, ensuring participants were both informed and entertained. Keynote speaker Marshall Goldsmith, New York Times bestselling author of the books "Triggers" and" What Got You Here Won’t Get You There," helped audience members think about what kind of leaders they wanted to be. Author, researcher and economist Brian Beaulieu offered insights on what the economy will look like in the next few years. Bestselling author of nearly 50 sports books, Ross Bernstein, explained why certain teams win consistently, and why others don’t succeed.
Nexstar coaches presented special breakout sessions on marketing, growing your own employees from the ground up, recruiting and retention, new tools and technologies, and working with specific current business challenges, such as supply chain delays and price increases. Additionally, Super Meeting participants enjoyed a busy Strategic Partner trade show, a Women of Nexstar reception, a nonprofit fundraising cocktail evening and other networking receptions, all designed to help members connect with one another.
