Armistead Mechanical, a provider of mechanical construction, engineering and contracting services throughout the New Jersey/New York area, is being recognized by the New Jersey Alliance for Action for its work on an energy project at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, New Jersey. Nominated by partner company Allan Briteway Electrical Contractors, Armistead is being honored with a “New Jersey’s Leading Capital Construction Award,” for its role in the hospital’s crucial Cogeneration Plant Replacement project.

Armistead Mechanical’s role is a subset of the Overlook Medical Center Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Project, which is upgrading the supply of hot water, steam, and electrical power to the hospital. Armistead will be installing a Jenbacher Engine Generator Package, a waste heat recovery boiler, and hot water exchangers. Additional specialized equipment, including a fuel gas compressor and Urea Tank System will also be installed. Armistead is also contracted to provide piping and breaching to support HVAC and plumbing services for the hospital.

The New Jersey Alliance for Action’s “New Jersey’s Leading Capital Construction Projects” awards program was created to highlight innovative, pioneering and landmark construction initiatives that greatly impact the state’s economy, and to honor the businesses and organizations that work together as partners to ensure the success of these projects. In addition to Armistead Mechanical, other companies collaborating on the Overlook Medical Center project also are being recognized with this distinction.

The Cogeneration Plant Replacement project is scheduled for completion next year. Crucially, all hospital systems must be maintained throughout the construction process, then seamlessly tied in without any system interruption whatsoever.
