How long have you been in the PHCP-PVF industry?

JA: I began my plumbing journey in 2019. Initially, I was hired at Oliver as a remodel technician in 2018. While working in the remodeling department on kitchen and bathroom projects, I was introduced to plumbing. It quickly became my passion, challenging me daily and giving me immense satisfaction in helping customers with their plumbing needs.

What drew you into the industry?

JA: I never had an interest in going to college and studying subjects that didn't excite me. After high school, I explored electrical and carpentry but soon discovered my true calling was plumbing. I loved troubleshooting water heaters and fixing water distribution issues. The thrill of solving different challenges each day drew me in and kept me engaged.

What is the most rewarding aspect of working in the industry?

JA: Every day in residential plumbing is unique. I've been trained to handle various plumbing issues, from replacing water heaters and roughing in new bathrooms to using a jetter to clear clogged drains. Providing solutions for customers' plumbing needs is incredibly satisfying. I also enjoy communicating with customers, making them feel comfortable, and educating them about their plumbing systems. It's rewarding when customers are happy not only with my work but also with the information and options I provide.

What motivates you every day?

JA: My family is my biggest motivation. They have always supported me throughout my career, and I want to provide for them for a lifetime. The daily challenges in plumbing also keep me motivated and excited.

What is one thing you wish more people knew/understood about the PHCP-PVF industry?

JA: The plumbing industry isn't as intimidating as it might seem. If you have a passion for problem-solving, this career is perfect for you.

What has been the proudest moment in your career so far?

JA: I'm most proud of successfully completing my four-year apprenticeship program on time and passing my journeyman exam. The hard work paid off, and it was a significant achievement for me.

What is one thing most people don’t know about you?

JA: I love working out 4-5 days a week. It's my time to focus on myself and build my strength. Listening to music and podcasts during my workouts helps me relax and unwind.
