American Standard held its first "Singing in the Shower" contest at a Chicago-area mall to promote its new VertiSpa shower system. Twenty-two contestants competed, singing a variety of karaoke music. DJ Bonnie Green from Chicago's Oldies 104.3 radio station served as emcee, and was one of three judges. The winner was Dara Bengelsdorf of Wheeling, Ill., for her performance of Connie Francis' "Where the Boys Are." She received a free VertiSpa, and will be one of the finalists to perform in New York in October.
