Construction Employment Rises Nationally
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that construction employment edged up 7,000 to a record 7.5 million people, following gains of 44,000 in January and 37,000 in February. For the past 12 months, overall construction employment increased 311,000 (4.3 percent): residential specialty trade contractors, 6 percent; residential and nonresidential building, 4 percent each; and nonresidential specialty trade contractors, 2 percent.
