Bath, shower and kitchen products manufacturer GROHE recently conducted a consumer survey that found North American shower habits “may not be what you expect.”
For instance, 22 percent of U.S. and Canadian respondents have sex in the shower. Another 20 percent clean the shower whilst taking a shower. Respondents also brush their teeth while showering (17 percent U.S.; 14 percent Canada).
When asked what they think about while showering, 15 percent of U.S. respondents (8 percent Canadian) cited making major decisions, such as quitting/switching jobs, starting a new business, going back to school, moving, getting married/divorced, having kids, quitting smoking, and being a better person.
Singing in the shower was studied, too. It was found 29 percent of Americans sing rock ‘n roll. Another 20 percent sing country music.
Top five songs while showering:
- “Singing in the Rain”
- “Amazing Grace”
- “Splish Splash”
- “Hey Jude”
- Original tunes
Finally, GROHE asked what other ways people have used their showers. Respondents cited the following alternative uses/activities:
- Washing pets
- Household cleaning
- Beer cooler
- Fish tank
- Playpen for kids
- Thawing turkey
- Cat fountain/dish while on vacation
- Cat litter box
- Storing/hiding things
