EMCOR Group announced that thousands of its employees across the United States and the United Kingdom will be commemorating Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October by donning EMCOR pink hard hats in support of the company’s “Protect Yourself. Get Screened Today” campaign. Additionally, there will be a series of events whereby EMCOR employees and its clients wearing pink hard hats will form themselves into massive human pink ribbons.

“EMCOR employees will again this October wear EMCOR pink hard hats, challenging the ‘macho’ image of the construction industry and showing support for family, friends, colleagues and clients who are, have been and could be affected by breast cancer,” saidFrank T. MacInnis, chairman and CEO of EMCOR. “At EMCOR, the majority of our field employees wear a hard hat on a daily basis for personal protection, and we are proud of their commitment to wear a pink hard hat during this important month to help create visibility day in and day out of the disease that affects so many lives - and the action that can be taken to protect oneself from it.”

Human ribbon formations, considered by EMCOR to be its “signature” event, involves participation with a number of clients at their locations, including:

  • Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Md.

  • Yale Cancer Center and Yale School of Medicine, New Haven, Conn.

  • Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Phoenix, Ariz.

  • Somerset House, London, England

Events will kick-off on Sept. 30 and will include conversations among a breast cancer survivor/spokesperson, EMCOR pink hard-hat wearing construction workers and the local EMCOR subsidiary CEO.
