Plumbing & Mechanical’s 2011 Best-Looking Truck Contest had many exceptional entries, especially in the box truck and van categories. Using a weighted point system, the panel of judges selected winners, as well as two runners-up, for each of the categories. Our judges this year from Creative Elements, Frankfort, Ill., included ownersMike Deam,Joe FlahertyandScott Hammond; and graphic designersScott SriverandHilary Daniel.
Each winner of our four categories will receive a Kinetic Water Ram from contest sponsor General Pipe Cleaners.
Best-Looking Box Truck
WinnerThis category had a large number of entries and as a result was very competitive. After much discussion and review, the eventual winner was Rescue Plumbing. Considering that the need for a plumber is often an emergency (at least in the mind of the homeowner), this attractive, eye-catching truck does a great job of conveying that immediate service is what they are all about. And while it may not have as much information on it as many of the entries, people are sure to remember the name.
Very informative; one judge called it a rolling billboard.
An extremely clean and effective look.
Good-looking truck - and “Uptown Man” is great!
Best-Looking Van
WINNERThis category had the most number of entries and many were very good. The appealing colors of Sieben Plumbing accounted for it being listed on every judge’s ballot. The 24-hour emergency service information really “pops.” Like many of the entries, the back of the van features information that is easily read when someone is stopped behind the vehicle - a great use of space.
This entry was a solid second among the judges.
The judges really liked the clean and simple graphics of this white van.
An effective use of before and after images.
Green is a hot button among many homeowners today.
Best-Looking Pickup Truck
WINNERThe appealing colors and graphics that placed this entry second in the Box Truck Category carry over effectively to the company’s pickup trucks. All judges noticed this consistency in their fleet.
While this truck may not include any memorable slogan or services, the blue-and-black graphics are a real head-turner.
This company does an excellent job of tying in the pickup with its vans.
Best-Looking Inside
WINNERThis “warehouse on wheels” truly stood out among all others in this category. With a list of features and an inventory of equipment too long to list here, it’s amazing how neat, clean and accessible these trucks are!
