Ferguson and Christopher Newport University (CNU) announced May 1 that Ferguson will continue its commitment to the university with a $12 million donation over the next 30 years.
The donation will bolster CNU’s community service programs through its Center for Community Engagement, provide scholarships to students and enhance cultural experiences at the Ferguson Center for the Arts.
“Since our founding in 1953, Ferguson has remained committed to being a good corporate citizen and we are honored to continue our partnership with CNU,” said Ferguson CEO Frank Roach. “We have built and sustained a strong relationship for many years, and like CNU, we both believe strongly in developing our future leaders and in giving back to the communities we serve.”
The agreement includes the naming rights for the Ferguson Center of the Arts through 2042, the launch of Ferguson performing arts scholarships and support of CNU’s Center for Community Engagement.
“CNU is deeply grateful for our longstanding partnership with Ferguson that underscores our shared values and common goals of improving the civic, cultural and educational life of our community and Commonwealth,” said President Paul Trible. “Ferguson’s commitment of $12 million will sustain the programming excellence and success of the Ferguson Center and will create two transformative opportunities for our students by supporting scholarships in the performing arts and service in our community.”
