Taco’s latest variable speed pump (the ECM Pump for residential and light commercial applications) was unveiled at the NAOHSM show in Providence earlier this year. Yet, the super-efficient, yellow and black pump needed a name. Timed for the new pump’s debut at the show, Taco also inaugurated its Name That Pump contest.
John White Jr., president and CEO of Taco, Inc., threw the question out to Taco fans worldwide, asking them: what would you name it? More than 2,800 submissions were collected in a ballot box at the show and during the 60-day online promotion.
A yellow and black Smart Car – chosen for its small size and superb energy efficiency – was offered as the winner’s take home prize.
Mario-Luc Rangerof Orlando, Fla., was one of 50 people who submitted the name “Bumble Bee.” His name was randomly pulled from a basket recently. Ranger, a control technician at The University of Central Florida, took the added step of dressing the part when he picked up the car! He surprised a small gathering at the nearby Smart Car dealership when he arrived to receive the keys in a full-body bumblebee costume.
Today, Ranger and his family will be saving gas and commuting in a greener (er, yellower) fashion courtesy of Taco.
