In Celebration Of American Tradesmen ... And Women
Did you know that there is a day dedicated to tradesmen? Irwin Tools has selected the third Friday of September as National Tradesmen Day. This inaugural year, National Tradesmen Day falls on Sept. 16. Irwin created this day to thank tradesmen who work in all different industries. Wall Street even honored tradesmen as Irwin Tool PresidentRoss Porterand various tradesmen from across the country rang the opening bell to the New York Stock Exchange Sept. 1.
Mike Rowe, host of TV show “Dirty Jobs” and creator of the Trades Hub, also supports this day for tradesmen. “Because of my role on ‘Dirty Jobs,’ a lot of people think I speak on behalf of America’s tradesmen,” he said. “In fact, I don’t. From what I’ve seen, tradesmen don’t really need a ‘spokesman’ - what they need are fans, regular people who understand the magnitude of their work, the impact of their chosen profession and the importance of their skill.”
