After a three-year hiatus, Dan Holohan resurrected his “Wetstock” gathering of hydronic heating buffs in Denver April 12, drawing 205 participants and, for the first time, 18 exhibitors. The Wetstock
Most Wet Heads we profile
talk about the energy efficiency of radiant heat. John Palecek,
energy/technical consultant, Smart Solutions Inc., Kamiah, Idaho, can talk
about that, but he’s more inclined to bring up concrete form walls or insulated
tongue-and-groove flooring systems or even a ventilation system that features a
hydrocarbon ionomeric membrane.
Twenty teams
have been selected from colleges and universities around the globe to compete
in the 2007 Solar Decathlon taking place Oct. 12-20 in Washington, D.C., by
designing, building and operating the most attractive and energy-efficient
solar-powered home.
More people are reading about how to save energy and otherwise leave a
smaller carbon footprint on the planet, and this year’s Radiant
Heating Report takes a look at how the radiant/hydronic heating
industry is attempting to do the same.
A lot of developers, designers and builders like
the idea of energy-efficient buildings, but not the idea of lots of additional
costs and complications, but nothing could be further from the truth.
