UA and the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) have reached an agreement on a landmark proposal to save energy and water in new buildings with a proposal to IAPMO.
By now, you are probably tired of hearing about the new no-lead legislation. The days are counting down until Jan. 4, 2014, the effective date of the law.
The plumbing provisions of the IAPMO Green Plumbing and Mechanical Code
Supplement (GPMCS) will be included as an Appendix to the 2012 edition of the
National Standard Plumbing Code.
The
legislation reduces the lead standard for pipes, pipe fittings and plumbing fittings from
as much as 8.0 percent to 0.25 percent across the nation, and provides
for a 36-month implementation period.
Despite the
recent repeal of crosslinked polyethylene (PEX) tubing from the California
Plumbing Code, Uponor will continue its efforts to fully reinstate PEX in
the code.
