Caledonian University is researching the possibility of using water stored in
abandoned mines to harness geothermal energy to heat Scotland’s second
largest city.
An
old New England farm house has been heated with a two-pipe steam system serving
plenty of sturdy cast-iron radiators. As part of an extensive renovation and
insulation upgrade, the owner decides to upgrade the heat and convert the
system to a high-efficiency, gas-fired condensing boiler.
On Feb. 5, The Manufacturing Institute and its STEP Ahead initiative partners recognized 122 recipients of the STEP Awards at a reception in Washington, D.C.
