PSA tape technologies provide moisture barrier properties that can insulate pipes from environmental events such as precipitation, vapor ingress and extreme cold or heat. While there may be temptation to use putties and caulks in place of PSA tapes for insulation purposes, these materials are typically used as fillers meant to span gaps — not provide air or water barrier. PSA tape offers a fully cured and easier-to-handle application process. Acrylic tape has a high level of cohesion and is known for its durability when seaming vapor barriers. Butyl tape is designed to be air-impermeable, waterproof and insulating. It is ideal for seams and provides a water-tight bond for optimum sealing.
