Tighten shower arms, etc.
When installing a shower arm or hand held hose wall elbow, thread a ½" coupling onto the male ends and select the appropriate size pipe nipple to use as a lever.
It will save your finishes from wrench scratches and will make a tight, leak-proof seal without crushing or damaging the fixture.
You can use different size nipples for more or less leverage, and select a smaller nipple for tightening in a confided space such as an adjacent wall or shower door.
This method can also be used to remove the fixture.
