Nexstar Inc. and the Nexstar Legacy Foundation launched a new Community Service Award program that acknowledges Nexstar’s member companies for giving back to the communities that helped make them successful. The 2008 Community Service Award goes to Horizon Services of New Castle, Del. 

Nexstar recently honored Horizon Services for establishing its “Warm The Heart Foundation,” a non-profit organization providing replacement furnaces to needy families. This year, “Warm The Heart Foundation” has a goal to purchase and install enough furnaces to warm 15 homes that would have likely gone through winter cold. Over the past three years, they’ve installed 39 new heating systems at no cost to economically distressed families in the area.

The Nexstar Community Service award included a $1,000 donation from Nexstar to the Warm the Heart Foundation.

Other Nexstar member companies considered for the Community Service Award included those who contributed to the efforts of Make-a-Wish, Habitat for Humanity, Salvation Army, churches, YMCA, 4-H, Boy and Girl Scouts, Extreme Makeover, and many others.
