When I first started working for Plumbing & Mechanical’s sister publication, The ACHR NEWS in 2014, I was often the only woman in the room at industry events. Those first few conferences were just a bit intimidating. ASA’s Women in Industry division recently announced Bergen, New York-based Liberty Pumps President and Chief Operating Officer Robyn Brookhart is the recipient of the 2021 Alice A. Martin Woman of the Year Award.
Their presence in every aspect of the trades from design and manufacturing to executive leadership to turning wrenches and fitting pipe is often overshadowed in predominantly male fields.
Danielle Putnam, president of Women in HVACR and The New Flat Rate, gave the keynote address at the Ninth Annual Celebrating Women in the Mechanical Trade Industry Luncheon.
