In the new American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy report, “Residential Energy Use Disclosure: A Review of Existing Policies,” 14 U.S. residential energy use disclosure laws were examined in order to shed light on how residential energy disclosure policies can most effectively reach homebuyers and renters in single-family homes and multifamily buildings.
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg signed a bill earlier this year tasking the NYC Office of Long-Term Planning & Sustainability to study geothermal energy resources and the feasibility of city-wide adoption of geothermal heating and cooling.

San Francisco’s Pier 15 Exploratorium is expected to be the largest net-zero energy and net-zero carbon museum in the United States.

The Plastics Pipe Institute named San Francisco’s Pier 15 Exploratorium as its Project of the Year in the Building/Construction division. The 330,000-sq.-ft., LEED-Gold historic structure is projected to be 57% more efficient than the ASHRAE 90.1 energy standard requires.
