At a time when attracting exhibitors and attendees to U.S. trade shows can be a struggle, Chinese and German organizers announced a new heating and plumbing show for later this year in Shanghai, China. The ISH Shanghai CIHE International Trade Fair for Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning will take place Sept. 26-28, 2012.

The new show's organizers made the Shanghai event the focal point of a press conference on the first day of their ISH China CIHE trade show in Beijing, which is running April 4-6. Messe Frankfurt of Germany and Beijing B&D Tiger Exhibition Co. of China produce both shows.

The Shanghai show will be an annual event, as is the ISH China CIHE in Beijing but different from the original ISH, which is held every other year in Frankfurt, Germany. The timing of the Shanghai show always will be in the fall to take advantage of eastern China's market for radiant floor heating, which will be an emphasis of the show. Other technologies on display in Shanghai will include wall-hung boilers, air-source heat pump water heaters, heat pumps, solar water heaters, radiators and fireplaces used by eastern China's 323 million residents. Plumbing products will take a backseat to heating in the first year of the show, organizers say.

Overall, the Shanghai show will cover 12,000 square meters and is expected to attract 200 exhibitors and 8,000 visitors from China and other nations.

In contrast, the 2012 ISH China CIHE in Beijing covers 70,000 square meters, which accommodates 800 exhibitors and an expected 30,000 attendees. Brands familiar to U.S. visitors include Watts, A.O. Smith, Kohler Co., Weil-McLain, Grundfos, Grinnell, Danfoss, Wilo, Lochinvar, Grohe, Navian, Caleffi, Baxi, REHAU, Oventrop, Honeywell and Bosch. The show's international media partners include Plumbing & Mechanical, Supply House Times and PME.

This marks the second year Messe Frankfurt's ISH China has joined forces with Beijing B&D Tiger Exhibition's CIHE to produce the China International Trade Fair for Sanitation, Heating, Ventilation & Conditioning. It's the first year for the show in the new International Exhibition Center near Beijing's main airport. The tradeoff for locating the show outside Beijing's city center was a brighter, more open and better organized convention center than last year's venue, show organizers say.
